We Survived the Solar Eclipse, Now What?

Monday’s solar eclipse has passed, but the astrology of April continues to be full-on!

First, note that a solar eclipse is not a one-day event. We’re still in the “eclipse season” window of influence, which will officially close at the next full moon on April 23rd.

Eclipse season, which happens twice every year, is a six-week period of accelerated change and growth. Emotions are heightened, what’s been hidden erupts into consciousness, and events brewing in the background are catalyzed into action. “Fated” endings and beginnings in relationship-land are also common. We can think of this time as a purging of the past and a mysterious portal into a new reality.

In the bigger picture, a solar eclipse is a seed-planting for a new 19-year cycle. This Aries eclipse catalyzes a death and rebirth of your identity, personal power, courage, confidence, motivation and direction.

Now, as this new cycle is just starting to get going, you may be feeling your own life force returning, and receive some sparks of insight into what you want to create and who you want to be moving forward.

And, now that eclipse-hype-a-rama has passed, the focus turns to an even more epic astro-influence – one you will NOT hear about in the news – the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus.

Slow-moving Jupiter and Uranus will meet up on April 20th, for the first time since 2011. Like a solar eclipse, this conjunction is not a one-day event, but a seed-planting for a new 13-ish-year cycle.

Jupiter is the planet of expansion and amplification, while Uranus signifies awakening, chaos, revolution, reversals and quantum leaps. When the two planets come together, we can expect (and are already witnessing) escalating turbulence, sudden and unexpected changes, and general WTF-ness.

This conjunction heightens the potential for revelations, magical connections, miraculous synchronicities, breaking through limits and expanding into new perspectives. At the same time, there can be restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, and the sense that everything is up in the air.

In the body, Uranus rules the nervous system, and anything you can do to soothe and comfort your animal body is recommended – slow down, put your bare feet on the earth, spend time in nature, breathe consciously...

In the sign of Taurus, this revelatory and revolutionary energy is focused on the personal realms of worthiness, fulfillment, creativity, values, money, essential needs, and our basic relationship to the physical.

The parts of the body ruled by Taurus are the neck and throat, jaw and ears. If you’re experiencing symptoms in these areas (as I am – I’ve had a swollen gland in my throat the past few days…), consider the energetics behind that symptom. What are you being called to create, and what might be blocking that expression? Where have you held back giving voice to your truth, your values, your genius? What have you not wanted to hear – whether from other people, or the inner voice of your soul?

On a collective level, we’re seeing disruptions and radical changes in agriculture, food production, financial markets and supply chains. The distorted, dystopian version of Jupiter-Uranus in Taurus can be seen in the current assaults on small farms and people’s freedom to produce their own food; the production of lab-grown “meat” and the mass sacrifice/culling of cattle; the transhumanist agenda and “bio-digital convergence” – merging humans with machines (e.g. the Neuralink human trials now taking place); the coming centralized digital currency, essentially a system to enslave humans. Etc.!

The higher expression of Jupiter-Uranus in Taurus would be awakening to and utilizing the inherent, highly advanced technology of the body; the invention and reactivation of NATURAL technologies that work in cooperation with the earth – e.g., electro-culture, biodynamic farming; the creation of financial systems that enhance freedom and empower humanity (e.g., local currencies, bartering systems, gift economy); and ultimately the re-wedding of spirit and matter, recognizing the divinity of the body and earth.

I was a HUGE fan of Depeche Mode back in high school (my New Wave days…) while Suzanne has had transformational experiences seeing their live shows. We looked at the themes of creativity, inspiration and addiction in Dave’s chart, what was going on for him at the time of his overdose in 1996, and also checked out the synastry (chart comparision) between Dave and Suzanne.
