Aries Full Moon - Initiation Into A Bigger Story of Self

The energies are building toward a very EXTREME Full Moon - are you feeling it?? Yes, it’s another Super Full Moon, when the Moon’s closest proximity to Earth coincides with the Full Moon, magnifying the effects on planet and people. This is the third consecutive Super Full Moon and the closest – and therefore most powerful – of the three.

And, the Sun and Moon form a cardinal grand cross – a configuration of maximum tension that can feel like a pressure cooker. And! The cardinal cross includes Mars – the ruler of Aries and presiding deity of this Full Moon – in opposition to Pluto, a potentially explosive combination.

The cardinal signs are the initiators of the zodiac, and this Full Moon takes you on an initiatory, transformational journey. While the energies are volatile, and world events may be triggered, there is (as always!) a higher potential.

Aries is the sign of the self, the power of the individual, the I AM. Aries archetypes include the Warrior and the Superhero. This Full Moon wants to catalyze and expand your personal power by opening to a new personal myth – a new story of your purpose within the greater collective unfolding. As world events intensify, what new YOU is being called forth, what superpowers are being activated, what’s the bigger story of the one-of-a-kind role you came here to play?

The Full Moon conjoins with Chiron, who in myth was an initiator of warriors and healers – another indicator of the initiatory potential of this lunation. The Chiron-Moon conjunction can stir up core wounding, and also bring awareness to your healing journey. Chiron has been in Aries since 2018, focusing attention on wounds to identity, power, confidence and instincts.

Chiron, the Moon and the Sun are all harmonizing with Jupiter – the principle of expansion, blessings, optimism and trust. Jupiter is now retrograde in Gemini, calling for a shift in perception and a rewriting of old stories in order to restore your faith in yourself and in the future.

Jupiter’s cooperation with this Full Moon asks you to expand your sense of self, expand beyond the “little me” version of identity into your MYTHIC, superheroic Self. What are the old stories that have limited the expression of your authenticity and power? What’s the new story that supports your stepping into a bigger life?

As the Shaman or Wounded Healer, Chiron signifies not only the wounds but also the gifts, skills and powers hidden within the wound. It’s possible that the very thing you think is “wrong” with you, the part of yourself you want to hide from the world, contains the medicine with which you’re meant to heal the world.

Word to the wise: the Mars-Pluto opposition continues to heat up over the next few weeks, peaking on November 3rd. Yup, just in time for the US elections. On a personal level, the challenge is to work consciously with what’s triggering you, moving through feelings with awareness rather than unconsciously reacting or lashing out at others.

With Mars in Cancer, big feelings can come up around family dynamics, and, as Mars is in its retrograde shadow, old anger and resentments from the past. Physical exercise can be helpful to move the intense energies, as well as journaling about your feelings.
